Fashion Advice and Tips

I am getting married this year and want my bridesmaids to wear something different than the traditional dresses, have you any suggestions?

Opting for an evening dress can look just as nice as a traditional bridesmaids dress but allows the wearer more opportunity to wear it again. Prom dresses are a good alternative and are available in an array of colours. If you are not keen on the fuller dress with netting then go for a satin or crochet dress or a style that has Embroidery Anglais on it as this will allow the dress to fall rather than puff out. Built in corsets are extremely flattering and will provide a good shape that looks elegant at the same time. Straight hems can look slightly severe so opt for a jagged hem or fishtail for a more feminine and softer look. This Charas dress is stunning.  It’s available in lots of colours, perfect for fitting in with any wedding colour scheme.

I have got a big girls night out which the theme is glam. I am not used to dressing up that much so not sure what to go for, what do you suggest?

The best advice I could give would be to invest in a little black dress. The LBD never goes out of fashion and is a classic wardrobe staple that is handy to have for any event. Keep your dress simple so you can accessorise it with any colour making it possible to wear again. Choosing black or navy allows you to wear the dress at any time of year. To give you extra confidence in wearing your dress choose a shape that can be worn with a bra, this will allow you to feel comfortable without fidgeting. This diva dress is a simple cut with minimal fuss but in this case the saying applies “ less is definitely more!”

I have got a wedding in March and am not sure what to wear, as the weather might still be cold?

It can be cold still in March so if wearing a dress I would choose one that can be worn with tights. Black tights are perfectly acceptable to wear especially if the dress is a lighter colour. I would suggest opting for a dress with a slight sleeve to take the chill off. Often people ask me what to wear over a dress and the best suggestion would be to team with a pashmina so as not to spoil the look of your outfit. This dress from Lipsy is perfect for a spring wedding being a light colour it is fresh and will look great with black tights. It can be worn after the wedding with no tights in the summertime.

It’s my birthday next week and I want to find a nice outfit that is new in for this season. I am only going for a meal so it doesn’t want to look too dressy.

Well now is a good time to start shopping, as there are some great new styles in the shops. As it’s your birthday you definitely deserve something that’s new as you’ll want to show off your new outfit to your family and friends. Just because you are heading out for a meal does not mean you shouldn’t dress up. I would opt for a jersey dress, as they are easy to wear but choose a printed dress, as this will give it more of a wow factor for your birthday.

This Miss Sixty dress is great as it can be worn on its own or over skinny jeans. Teamed with some pretty earrings or chunky bangle it is bang on trend but great for wearing again. The jersey fabric allows it to be dressed up or down and the colours allow it to be worn now through to summer.

I have got a house party to go to for New Years Eve and don’t know what to wear, what do you suggest?

It can be tricky to know what to wear when you are at a house party. Obviously a floor length dress would be too much but then as its New Years Eve it is still nice to make an effort. A big factor to remember is that you may have to take your shoes off, so what ever you wear you need to feel comfortable in no shoes! Jumper dresses can be ideal as they can be worn with tights and leggings, worn with some chunky jewellery they can be dressed up. Tunics are a safe bet also as they can be dressy yet worn with jeans. Depending on the theme of the party you want to feel comfortable, so opt for an outfit that you can stay partying in - until the wee hours of the morning! This asymmetric jumper dress is a great look as it has an edgy look and teamed with a long necklace is perfect for a house party.
