It's in the jeans
Owning a pair of good fitting jeans is a must and feeling amazing in them is even better! There are so many cuts and shapes now that it can often be confusing as to what to choose. It is essential that you understand your body shape first before trying on any jeans as each style will flatter certain body shapes. Here is a concise guide to help identify your shape and what options are out there for you. Persevere there is a jean out there for everyone!
Boot cut
This is the classic style jean that remains a staple cut each season. Boot cut is also the most flattering style to wear for majority of shapes. For pear shapes and hourglass figures it can take inches off the hips. Being slightly flared on the leg means it counteracts the hips and will highlight the waist, allowing fitted tops to be worn. Always buy your boot cut jeans long as this will lengthen your leg making you look longer and leaner. Team with heels for an evening look or with boots during the day.
Skinny
Although the title can be slightly off putting for some, skinny jeans can be worn by larger sizes as long as they are worn with the correct top. Boyish frames and apple shapes can get away with wearing skinny jeans with most style tops. Curvy girls need to wear longer tunic tops to cover the bum and widest part of the hip when wearing skinny jeans. This will elongate the upper body distracting from the hips and bum. Skinny jeans are great for wearing under dresses too. Tucked into boots skinny jeans look great and can be worn in the same way as leggings.
Straight leg
A perfect choice for apple figures with tummies. The straight leg will counteract the tummy by providing a slim leg and being not so flared will allow the body to look in proportion. Being a straight leg its just a fraction wider than skinny so can be worn over boots and looks great with heels. Shorted fitted tops can be worn as the bum does not need to be covered. A straight leg is a great jean for summer perfect for wearing turned up they look great teamed with flip flops.
Boyfriend Jeans
Although very wide, boyfriend jeans can often disguise the body shape. Small petite and boyish frames can easily opt for this style as the looser styler will sit off the hips creating a curvier figure. Shorter tops can only be worn with boyfriend jeans and due to the wide leg the tops needs to be fitted. This style is generally only suitable for casual wear. Pear shapes can wear boyfriend jeans but must make sure the jean is fitted on the bum and flares out from the leg only. This is more flattering and will disguise bigger thighs. If you want to show off your waist and bust opt for a tight fitting top to draw attention to the top half. Boyfriend jeans should be worn without a turn up if the leg is extra wide as the turn up can over complicate the look.
Customer Questions
I am getting married this year and want my bridesmaids to wear something different than the traditional dresses, have you any suggestions? Opting for an evening dress can look just as nice as a traditional bridesmaids dress but allows the wearer more opportunity to wear it again. Prom dresses are a good alternative and are available in an array of colours. If you are not keen on the fuller dress with netting then go for a satin or crochet dress or a style that has Embroidery Anglais on it as this will allow the dress to fall rather than puff out. Built in corsets are extremely flattering and will provide a good shape that looks elegant at the same time. Straight hems can look slightly severe so opt for a jagged hem or fishtail for a more feminine and softer look. This Charas dress is stunning. It’s available in lots of colours, perfect for fitting in with any wedding colour scheme.

The best advice I could give would be to invest in a little black dress. The LBD never goes out of fashion and is a classic wardrobe staple that is handy to have for any event. Keep your dress simple so you can accessorise it with any colour making it possible to wear again. Choosing black or navy allows you to wear the dress at any time of year. To give you extra confidence in wearing your dress choose a shape that can be worn with a bra, this will allow you to feel comfortable without fidgeting. This diva dress is a simple cut with minimal fuss but in this case the saying applies “ ess is definitely more!”
